Abstract
Lie singing during the whale fishing process has become a tradition and cultural heritage from our ancestors that still exists today. Lie's song is an expression of thanks to God, Ancestors and nature for the catch in the sea. Apart from that, requests are made to God and Ancestors during the process of going to sea. The Lie song has its own characteristics, namely that this song is sung when accompanying the fishermen on their return journey when they succeed in catching a break. The Lie song is sung in unison in groups because the fish consists of a soloist and a choir. However, along with the development of technological media, many of the younger generation have forgotten this tradition. The younger generation prefers to play digital-based games. The problem raised in this research is what form the Lie song takes in the whale fishing process in Lamalera village. The five research sources are fishermen in Lamalera village and one source who is a landlord in Lamalera village. This research is qualitative, using descriptive analysis research methods. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation with sources. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation with sources.
