Abstract

The thesis entitled “The Effects of Students’ Learning Participation and Teacher’s Teaching Preparation to Students’ Learning Achievement in Elementary School of Inpres Oepoi Kupang and Students’ Learning Motivation as the Variable of Mediation”, was written by Maria Claudia Bate Syah, Reg.No. 811231025, supervised by Fr. Dr. Philipus Tule, SVD and Dr. Drs. Kletus Erom, M.Hum. Learning Achievement is the student’s achievement in learning in form of numbers in an education level. It is both directly and indirectly affected by many factors, among other things students’ participation, teachers’ teaching preparation, learning motivation, etc. This research specifically intends to uncover the effects of the Students’ Learning Participation and the Teachers’ Teaching Preparation to the Students’ Learning Achievement in Elementary School of Inpres Oepoi Kupang and the Students’ Learning Motivation as the Variable of Mediation. The research applied quantitative method with survey strategy to 97 students of Class VI of Elementary School of Inpres Oepoi Kupang as the sample. The data was analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS). Data analysis applied descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The first analysis intends to find out average percentage of indicator achievement and categories of each variable. The variable of students’ learning achievement (Y) is 78.38, categorized as good. The variable of students’ learning participation (X1) is 67.63, categorized as enough. The variable of teachers’ teaching preparation (X2) is 81.64, categorized as good. And the variable of students’ learning motivation (Z) is 78.13, categorized as good. The second analysis intends to find out the direct effects of Independent Variables: Students’ Learning Participation (X1) and Teachers’ Teaching Preparation (X2) to Dependent Variables: Students’ Learning Achievement (Y) and Mediation Variable: Students’ Learning Motivation (Z) then mediating indirect effect to the Dependent Variable: Students’ Learning Achievement (Y). The Variable of X1 doesn’t significantly affect the Variables of Y but positively and significantly affects the Variable Z. The Variable of X2 doesn’t significantly affect the Variable of Y, but positively and significantly affects the Variable of Z. The Variable of Z doesn’t significantly affect the Variable of Y. The Variable of X1, through the Variable of Z doesn’t significantly affect the Variable of Y. The Variable of X2, through the Variable of Z doesn’t significantly affect the Variable of Y. The Determination Coefficient shows the simultant effect of the Independent Variables: X1, X2, and the Median Variable of Z, 1.6% to the Variables of Y, and the rest, 98.4%, is affected by other variables having not been considered in this study. In line with the significances and the data analysis result, then some recommendations are offered to Elementary School of Inpres Oepoi Kupang and Education Official of Kupang City to do something to lift up the qualities of students’ learning participation and teachers’ teaching preparation to gain optimal student learning’s achievement.
