Abstract

Thesis title: The relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination of grade XI students of Giovanni Catholic High School, Kupang, Academic Year 2025/2026?. The problem in this study is whether there is a relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination of grade XI students of Giovanni Catholic High School, Kupang, Academic Year 2025/2026. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between selfefficacy and academic procrastination of grade XI students of Giovanni Catholic High School, Kupang, Academic Year 2025/2026. This study is a quantitative research type. The variables in this study consist of independent variables (X), namely self-efficacy and dependent variables (Y), namely academic procrastination. The population in this study were all grade XI students of Giovanni Catholic High School, Kupang, Academic Year 2025/2026, totaling 346 students. The research sample was 96 students, taken from grade XI A–C using purposive sampling technique. The data collection tools used were self-efficacy questionnaires and academic procrastination questionnaires. The research data analysis used the product moment correlation technique with the help of the SPSS for Windows version 29 application. The results showed that the Pearson Correlation value was -0.608 which means the level of relationship is strong and negative, with a significance value of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05 . This shows that the higher the student's self-efficacy, the lower the level of academic procrastination, and vice versa, the lower the student's self-efficacy, the higher the academic procrastination. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between selfefficacy and academic procrastination of class XI students of Giovanni Catholic High School Kupang in the 2025/2026 Academic Year. Based on these conclusions, the researcher provides suggestions to: a) The principal is expected to utilize the results of this study as a basis for formulating school policies and programs that support the development of students' self-efficacy and academic procrastination., b) BK teachers are expected to be able to implement guidance and counseling services on an ongoing basis to help students improve their self-efficacy and reduce academic procrastination, and c) Students are expected to be able to realize the importance of self-efficacy in completing academic tasks so that they are motivated to complete tasks on time and reduce the habit of procrastination
