Abstract
Thesis title "Learning MuseScore Application in Writing Staff Notation for Semester III Students of Music Education Study Program, Unwira Kupang" written by Yoseph Mersando Bria (17121101) with Supervisor I Mr. Yohanis D. Amasanan S.Pd., M.Pd and Supervisor II Ms. Kadek Paramitha Hariswari S.Pd., M.Pd. This research is motivated by the development of digital music technology and the fact that many students of the Music Education Study Program at UNWIRA Kupang are not yet familiar with the MuseScore application, despite its importance in facilitating score writing and developing arrangement creativity. This study aims to determine the use of the MuseScore application in facilitating the writing of staff notation and to determine its impact on Semester III students. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative with a participatory field action research method. The research subjects consisted of 5 Semester III students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The learning process was carried out in eight meetings covering the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages, applying demonstration and imitation methods. The results showed that the learning of the MuseScore application proceeded well and had a positive impact. The use of MuseScore proved to facilitate students due to its complete features, simple interface, and realistic sound playback capabilities, which helped students in writing, editing, and listening to staff notation scores directly. Although there were obstacles such as participants' lack of precision in note values, these could be overcome through intensive guidance. In conclusion, MuseScore is effective in improving students' technical skills in typing staff notation and deepening their understanding of basic music concepts.
