Abstract
This thesis is entitled: Critical Discourse Analysis of Teun A. Van Djik's Model on Ferry Irwandi's YouTube Content about the August 2025 Mass Action (Critical Discourse Analysis on Ferry Irwandi's YouTube Content from August 29 to September 25, 2025. The main focus of this study concerns how language, ideology, and power are interrelated in Ferry Irwandi's YouTube content about the mass action in August 2025. This research is descriptive-qualitative in nature. The method used is Teun A. Van Djik's Critical Discourse Analysis model. Three dimensions serve as the analytical framework, namely the dimensions of text, social cognition, and social context. The primary data sources are two YouTube videos by Ferry Irwandi about mass actions in August 2025. The results of this study indicate a close relationship between language, ideology, and power in Ferry Irwandi's YouTube content about mass actions in August 2025. This relationship is evident in the dimensions of the text or discourse, namely the textual dimension, social cognition, and social context in two YouTube videos by Ferry Irwandi about mass actions in August 2025. Ferry Irwandi, as a communicator, uses language strategically as a form of power, namely knowledge about cyberspace, to oppose other powers in society. Ferry also manipulates language as a means of communication and as a means of promoting/disseminating ideology about democracy. For further research, it is recommended to use critical discourse analysis with different models and on different subjects to produce more varied critical discourse analysis.
