Abstract

A mixed ensemble is a collaborative musical performance using more than one type of instrument, at Sta. Familia Sikumana Private High School in Kupang, ensembles are a core subject in Arts and Culture lessons. However, students at Sta. Familia Sikumana Private High School in Kupang rarely practices playing ensemble music together. Music learning activities often focus on theory or individual practice, so students lack experience playing in groups. Therefore, innovation is needed in music learning design, namely through the application of the Savi method. Based on the background, the formulation of the problem in this study is 1. How is the process of implementing mixed music ensemble learning through the SAVI method with the song model "Kiku Deri" for students of Sta. Familia Sikumana Kupang Private High School, 2) What are the benefits received by students in mixed music ensemble learning with the SAVI method and the song model "Kiku Deri" for ensemble playing skills, and students' music appreciation at Sta. Familia Sikumana Kupang Private High School?. This study aims to 1). Find out and analyze how the process of implementing mixed music ensemble learning through the SAVI method with the song model "Kiku Deri" for students of Sta. Familia Sikumana Kupang Private High School, 2) Find out the benefits of implementing the SAVI method in mixed music ensemble learning with the song model "Kiku Deri" for ensemble playing skills, and students' music appreciation at Sta. Familia Sikumana Kupang Private High School. This study uses a qualitative approach with a field action method. The research subjects are students of Sta. Familia Sikumana Kupang Private High School. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and practical tests in the form of pre-tests and post-tests. The research data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the study showed that the learning process carried out through 3 stages, namely the initial stage, the core stage, and the final stage, was able to improve students' abilities in playing mixed ensembles with the Kiku Deri song model. Thus, it can be concluded that the Savi method is effectively applied in learning mixed music ensembles with the Kiku Deri song model, not only in improving musical skills, but also in forming better social attitudes and music appreciation in students of Sta. Familia Sikumana Kupang Private High School.
