Abstract
The Toko Deto song is one of the traditional songs sung in the Tuku Tunu ritual in Natameze Village. This song is performed by a group of adult men using regional language lyrics that are now rarely used in everyday life. The problems raised in this study are 1). How is the process of the Tuku Tunu traditional ritual in Natameze Village, Boawae District, Nagekeo Regency? 2). What is the structure of the Toko Deto song used in the Tuku Tunu traditional ritual in Natameze Village, Boawae District, Nagekeo Regency? 3). What is the symbolic meaning contained in the Toko Deto song in the Tuku Tunu traditional ritual? This study aims to 1). find out the process of implementing the Tuku Tunu ritual, 2). To describe the structure of the Toko Deto song used in the Tuku Tunu traditional ritual, 3). To understand the symbolic meaning contained in the Toko Deto song in the Tuku Tunu ritual. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the Tuku Tunu ritual consists of stages, namely gathering materials, giving offerings and eating together, the Toko Deto song stage and the ritual procession in the Etu arena, and the closing stage of Zoka (rejection). The structure of the Toko Deto song is composed of an opening section, a main section, and a closing section with a call-and-answer pattern and repetition of lyrics that function to maintain musical order, strengthen collective memory, and preserve the community's oral traditions. In addition, the Toko Deto song contains symbolic meanings that reflect social values, spiritual values related to God and ancestors, the value of unity, traditional identity, and the continuity of traditions from generation to generation in the Natameze Village community. Thus, the Toko Deto song not only functions as a musical expression, but also as a means of strengthening the cultural identity and social solidarity of the Natameze community.
