Abstract
Bonet Lesluan singing is a traditional song of the Dawan tribe in Kusa Village, which has been sung since the time of their ancestors and has been passed down orally from generation to generation, and is still practiced today by the people of Kusa Village in Malaka Regency. This study is based on two research questions: (1) How is the traditional Bonet Lesluan song presented in the process of building traditional houses in Kusa Village, Malaka Regency? (2) What is the musical form of the traditional Bonet Lesluan song in the process of building traditional houses in the Kusa Village community, East Malaka Subdistrict, Malaka Regency? The objectives of this study are: (1) To find out the Bonet singing is presented in the construction of traditional houses in the Kusa Village community. (2) To examine and describe the musical form of the traditional Bonet Lesluan song. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with an ethnographic method. The data collection techniques included literature review, field observation, direct interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were Traditional Leaders, Art Practitioners, and the Community involved, who served as sources for primary data collection, while secondary data was obtained through literature review. The research results show that: (1). The presentation of the Lesluan bonet is carried out at night at the construction site of traditional houses, requiring a minimum of five singers with no limit on the maximum number. The singing begins with a solo vocal and is answered by groups of men and women, reciting traditional verses in a call-and-response manner that creates a strong emotional expression. (2). The bonet singing presents a complex musical structure that includes a system of tones, intervals, singing motifs, phrases, and rhythms in its performance process, making the community more expressive and enthusiastic in performing this song. Lesluan bonet singing has become a socio-cultural identity for the people of Kusa Village, East Malaka District, Malaka Regency.
