Abstract

This thesis is entitled "The Dynamics of Interpersonal Communication in the Dormitory Environment in Building Friendships. A Case Study of New Female Students in the Rusunawa Unwira Dormitory, Penfui, Kupang." This study aims to describe the dynamics of interpersonal communication among new female students. The background of this research is based on the importance of interpersonal communication dynamics in creating relationships between new female students and other residents of the Rusunawa female dormitory, a dormitory environment inhabited by female students from diverse backgrounds. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative case study approach, with data obtained through in- depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that interpersonal communication dynamics include openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, and equality. Factors influencing interpersonal communication dynamics include differences in background, introverted and extroverted attitudes among new female students living in the dormitory. The conclusion of this study confirms that appropriate interpersonal communication dynamics play a crucial role in building emotional closeness among new students and other dormitory residents by fostering attitudes of openness, empathy, supportive attitudes, and equality.
