Abstract

Lakaan Dance is a new type of creative dance based on the legend of the Belu Regency community, especially in the Lamaknen Selatan District. The problems raised in this study are 1). How is the application of the composition of the lakaan creative dance? 2). How is the process of learning the composition of the lakaan creative dance for students interested in dance talent at SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang. The purpose of this study is 1). To describe the form of the composition of the lakaan creative dance for students interested in talent at SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang 2). To find out the process of learning the composition of the lakaan creative dance for students interested in dance talent at SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang. The research method used is field action with a qualitative descriptive research approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results of the study explain that the lakaan creative dance is taken from the legend of Mount Lakaan which shows 11 types of movements with a combination of 2 types of original movements and 9 types of creative movements and learning dance composition regarding wiraga, wirasa and wirama. The accompanying music used is midi. The research process consisted of three stages: the initial student recruitment phase, where the researcher selected seven dancers (four female dancers and three male dancers), and an explanation of the research objectives. The core phase, which consisted of eight meetings, was followed by the final phase, which included rehearsals and video recording of the performance. This study encountered several challenges, including some students' difficulty adjusting their movements to the tempo of the music. However, the use of drill and imitation methods assisted the dancers in implementing the dance composition. Based on these results, it can be concluded that implementing dance composition and learning in the lakaan dance can assist students in developing and learning dance at school.
