Abstract
Thesis title: Coping Strategies of Guidance and Counseling Study Program Students, Class of 2022, in Completing Their Thesis. The problem formulation in this study is: How is the description of the Coping Strategies of Guidance and Counseling Study Program Students, Class of 2022, in Completing Their Thesis? This study aims to obtain an overview of the coping strategies used by Guidance and Counseling Study Program students, Class of 2022, at Widya Mandira Catholic University, Kupang, in facing pressure and obstacles during the thesis completion process. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were 20 active Guidance and Counseling Study Program students, Class of 2022, who were working on their final assignments. The selection of informants was carried out by purposive sampling, namely the drawing of informants was done intentionally with certain criteria who were working on their thesis. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and interviews. The interviews used were semi-structured interviews. Data analysis included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity testing was conducted using triangulation techniques to ensure the credibility of the research results. The results of the study indicate that seventh-semester students (Class of 2022) of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program have varied coping strategies in completing their theses. In general, students use Problem-focused and Emotion-focused strategies. Problem-focused coping strategies are divided into three parts: Planful Problem xi Solving, Confrontative coping, and Seeking Social Support. While Emotionfocused coping strategies are divided into five parts: Positive Reappraisal, Accepting Responsibility, Self-Controlling, Distancing, and Escape avoidance. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that Guidance and Counseling study program students use varied and adaptive coping strategies. This is because students are able to adapt to stressful situations and are able to reduce their burdens. Based on the results of this study, the researcher provides suggestions to a) Study Programs. Study Programs. Study Programs need to strengthen guidance and counseling services and provide training in planning, stress management, and time management to better prepare students to complete their theses.b) Students should develop a structured thesis completion plan by setting targets and schedules to ensure a more focused work. Furthermore, students should actively address challenges through discussions with supervisors and peers and utilize social support as a source of motivation and solutions. c) Future researchers are advised to develop research with a larger number of subjects and involving more than one study program or university so that the research results can be more widely generalized. Furthermore, the use of a quantitative or mixed methods approach can be considered to strengthen the findings and reduce data subjectivity.
