Abstract

Dug wells are one of the sources of clean water used by the community to meet their daily needs. Residents' houses that are close to each other cause some wells to be close to each other, this will be a source of Escherichia coli bacteria pollution in water sources resulting in low water quality. The purpose of this study is to make a distribution map and determine the level of Escherichia coli pollution in dug wells in the Working Area of the Penfui Health Center. Sampling was carried out in three villages, namely Maulafa Village, Naimata Village, and Penfui Village using the purposive method based on the criteria of dense, medium and non-densely populated areas. The samples taken were 49 wells. The water quality analysis was based on the testing of MPN coliform with a series of three tubes and the capture of coordinate points using UTM Geo Map software, then a map of the distribution of Escherichia coli was created using Open Source QGIS 3.36.1. Based on the results of water quality testing on 49 samples from three sub-districts, it was shown that 35 samples tested positive for contamination by Escherichia coli bacteria and did not meet the water quality standards, while 14 samples met the water quality standards according to Ministry of Health Regulation No.2 of 2023. The highest colony count was 6,48 CFU/ml and the lowest colony count was 0 CFU/ml.
