Abstract

The development of electronic cigarette or vape use in Indonesia has generated various views from the public. Social media, especially X, has become one of the main platforms for people to express opinions, both positive, negative, and neutral regarding this phenomenon. This study aims to analyze the sentiment of X social media users towards electronic cigarettes (vape) using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method. Research data was collected from X user posts using keywords related to electronic cigarettes (vape). The stages include data collection, text preprocessing (cleaning, tokenizing, stopword removal, and stemming), feature extraction using Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) and sentiment classification using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) model. This study used 3,438 Indonesian language X data. The results showed that sentiment towards electronic cigarettes (vape) was positive at 17.0%, negative at 46.5%, neutral at 36.6% and achieved an accuracy of 64.83%. The results showed that X users disagreed with the use of electronic cigarettes (vape) in 2025.
