Abstract
Research entitled "The Effect of Work Environment and Placement on Employee Performance Through Job Satisfaction as a Mediating Variable at the Kupang City Environment and Hygiene Office", by Thomas Kones, NIM 811211060, supervised by Dr. Simon Sia Niha, SE, M. Si and Dr. M. E. Perseveranda, SE, M.Si. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of work environment and employee placement on employee performance, either directly or indirectly. The population in this study were employees at the Kupang City Hygiene and Environment Office totaling 456 people while the sample was 82 people. The types of data are quantitative and qualitative data, while the sources are primary data and secondary data. The analysis method used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The results of descriptive analysis show that the work environment variable is in a good category with an average respondent answer of 80.02%, the employee placement variable is in a sufficient category with an average respondent answer of 67.05%, the job satisfaction variable is in a sufficient category with an average respondent answer of 67.73%, and the employee performance variable is in a sufficient category with a respondent answer of 67.62%. While the results of inferential statistical analysis show that the work environment has an insignificant effect on employee performance, indicated by the original sample coefficient of work environment of 0.183 and a p-value of 0.186> 0.05. On the other hand, the work environment has a significant effect on job satisfaction, which is shown by the original sample coefficient of work environment of 0.274 and a p-value of 0.021 0.05. Job placement has a significant effect on job satisfaction, indicated by the original sample coefficient of job placement of 0.344 and a p-value of 0.000 0.05. The indirect effect of job satisfaction does not significantly moderate the work environment and employee performance, indicated by the original sample coefficient of 0.049. and the indirect effect test obtained a P value of 0.343>0.05. Likewise, job satisfaction does not significantly moderate employee placement and employee performance, indicated by the original sample coefficient of 0.061 and indirect effect test, obtained a P value of 0.208> 0.05. Institutional management needs to pay attention to aspects of employee job satisfaction because it has a very low effect on employee performance and other variables such as work environment and employee job placement need to be improved because they have an insignificant effect on employee performance. Employee Job Satisfaction is also a concern for institutions because this variable does not significantly mediate the effect of work environment and employee job placement on employee performance.
