Abstract

Healthy facial skin is a priority for many individuals. However, with the vast array of sunscreen brands available in the market, consumers often face challenges in selecting the product that best suits their skin type and needs. To address this issue, this study developed a web-based decision support system utilizing the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) method for criteria weighting and Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) for alternative ranking. The evaluation criteria included BPOM certification, brand reputation, testimonials, SPF levels, price, skin type compatibility, texture, natural ingredients, and tropical climate suitability. The results of the study indicate that the integration of ROC and SAW methods successfully provided objective recommendations based on user preferences. Through ROC calculations, the BPOM criterion (C1) obtained the highest weight of 0.314. System testing demonstrated that the recommended alternatives varied according to skin type; for normal skin, alternative A3 achieved the highest preference score (0.803), while for oily skin, alternative A2 emerged as the top recommendation with a score of 0.833. Black-Box testing confirmed that all functional features, including consultation and report printing, operated as intended. This system is proven to facilitate an efficient sunscreen selection process and serves as a practical solution for both consumers and KTC Beauty Store.
