Abstract

This final project aims to design the Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) Padepokan in Borong, East Manggarai Regency, using an Architectural Metaphor Approach. Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) is one of the pencak silat schools founded by the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI), focused on teaching noble character and brotherhood. Pencak silat itself has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (2019), embodying the values of friendship, mutual respect, and social cohesion. The development of PSHT in East Manggarai Regency has demonstrated impressive achievements, with athletes winning medals in regional championships and qualifying for international competitions. However, this rapid growth is hampered by the lack of a dedicated Padepokan (a place of worship) in its own right. A Padepokan, a center for organizational activities and a training ground, is urgently needed, especially given the growing number of members and the need for a venue with a capacity of thousands of people for annual events, such as community certifications. In response to this need, the East Manggarai Branch of PSHT plans to build a large Padepokan in Borong. To ensure that the building design not only fulfills its technical functions (a place for training, meetings, and accommodation) but also expresses the identity, values, and noble philosophy of PSHT, this Final Project proposes an Architectural Metaphor approach. This approach is relevant because it can transfer the organization's physical and non-physical concepts (the teachings of noble character, brotherhood, and the history of the independence pioneer Ki Hadjar Hardjo Oetomo) into a tangible building form (tangible metaphor). Conclusion: The purpose of this Final Project is to make a significant contribution to the planning of the PSHT Padepokan in Borong through the application of an architectural metaphor approach. The design results are expected to produce design recommendations that are not only functional and aesthetic, but also create a comfortable, inclusive space and express a strong and inspiring organizational image.
