Abstract

Fruity Loops Studio is a form of digital technology media that can be used to create music. This software is accessible to various groups, including musicians, teachers, lecturers, students, and the general public. In practice, many students in the Music Education Study Program at Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira (Unwira) are unaware that this application can serve as a medium for music creation.The problem formulation of this research is: How is the process of applying the Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) method in learning FL Studio for students of the Music Education Study Program in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters? The objective of this research is to understand and describe the process of applying the Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) method in learning FL Studio for these students.This research is qualitative in nature. The research method employed is field action research, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The instructional method used by the researcher is the Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) method. The subjects of this research consist of 5 students from the Music Education Study Program.The study was conducted in three stages: the initial stage, the core stage, and the final stage. The findings and discussion of this research indicate that the use of the Fruity Loops Studio application is easy for Music Education Study Program students at Unwira and is effective as a medium for music creation. This is evidenced by the research subjects’ ability to create music instruments independently without additional assistance from the researcher. The subjects also successfully created musical instruments for the songs "Ie Ie Belewea" and "Jingle Bells" with excellent results.For future researchers, it is recommended to address the factors required in digital technology concerning access to music production media using Fruity Loops Studio.
