Abstract
This research is motivated by the increasingly limited understanding of the younger generation regarding the meaning and values of masculinity contained in the Oro Woko Dance as a cultural heritage of the Pora community. The problems in this research are (1) how the Oro Woko Dance is presented in Pora Village, Wolojita District, Ende Regency, and (2) how the meaning of masculinity is represented in the Oro Woko Dance as a welcoming dance for guests. This research aims to: (1) describe in detail the presentation of the Oro Woko Dance in Pora Village, Wolojita District, Ende Regency. (2) analyzing the meaning of masculinity represented in the Oro Woko Dance as a welcoming dance. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data collection techniques are carried out through indepth interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used include the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, which are carried out continuously throughout the research process. The results of the study indicate that the form of presentation of the Oro Woko Dance is characterized by structured movements, controlled rhythms, accompanied by gongs and collective singing, the use of traditional clothing such as Ragi, Luka, and Lesu, as well as the calm and dignified body posture of male dancers representing the attitude of maturity and responsibility of men in the life of the Pora community. The meaning of masculinity in the Oro Woko Dance is represented through the values of courage, strength, discipline, responsibility, togetherness, and honor of men as guardians of the dignity and cultural identity of the Pora community. The theoretical benefits of this study are expected to enrich the study of traditional performing arts and gender studies, especially related to the representation of masculinity in regional dance arts. Practically, this research is expected to serve as a reference source for the Pora Village community, artists, educators, and the younger generation in efforts to preserve the Oro Woko Dance.
