Abstract
The ability of children in the SEKAMI Choir of St. Markus Kaniti Station to read musical notation still faces many challenges, particularly in maintaining intonation stability. The problems addressed in this study are: (1) how the process of applying intonation techniques in the song "Let the Children Come to Me" is implemented in the SEKAMI Choir of St. Markus Kaniti Station, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Penfui; and (2) what difficulties are experienced by the SEKAMI Choir of St. Markus Kaniti Station, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Penfui. The objectives of this study are: (1) to analyze the process of applying intonation techniques in the song "Let the Children Come to Me" in the SEKAMI Choir of St. Markus Kaniti Station, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Penfui; and (2) to identify the difficulties experienced by the SEKAMI Choir of St. Markus Kaniti Station, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Penfui. This research is qualitative in nature, employing a field action method. The research subjects were members of the children's SEKAMI choir of St. Markus Kaniti Station. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and audio/video documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of intonation techniques began with scale exercises and etudes supported by breathing exercises, which helped the children to accurately target pitches with proper intonation. Difficulties experienced by the children in targeting pitches with correct intonation, both in etudes and in song models, were addressed through the provision of examples and repeated practice, enabling them to sing with accurate intonation.
