Abstract

The Reko Sodha song is one of the traditional songs sung in the Naro dance in Woloare Village. This song is performed by a group of dancers using regional language lyrics, led by Reko Sodha and responded by the dancers. The research questions are: 1) What is the form and structure of the Reko Sodha song in the Naro dance in Woloare Village, North Ende District? 2) What is the role of the Reko Sodha song in the Naro dance in Woloare Village, North Ende District? This study aims to 1) describe the musical form and structure of Reko Sodha singing and 2) analyze its role in the Naro dance in Woloare Village, North Ende District. This study used a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that 1) Reko Sodha singing has a musical structure built through the repetition of short phrases with simple melodic patterns that are responsive (responsive) between Reko Sodha and the dancers. The relationship between singing and dance movements is simultaneous and functional, where vocal dynamics influence dance movement patterns and vice versa. 2) The primary role of Reko Sodha singing is as a medium for expressing collective values, traditional greetings, and a means of conveying prayers and gratitude in various ritual and social contexts in the Woloare community.
