Abstract

Verakaria Maria Purnama (811241004), entitled “The Role of Teacher Work Motivation in Mediating the Effects of Leadership, Digital Platform Implementation, and Teacher Creativity on Student Learning Achievement at State Junior High School 9 Kupang City”, was supervised by Dr. Agapitus H. Kaluge, M.Pd as the principal supervisor and Dr. Samuel Igo Leton, M.Pd as the co-supervisor. This study aims to examine the relationship between principal leadership, the utilization of digital platforms, and teacher creativity on student learning achievement, with teacher work motivation serving as a mediating variable at State Junior High School 9 Kupang City. Student learning achievement was assessed based on teachers’ perceptions as the primary unit of analysis, taking into account their professional competence and pedagogical experience in evaluating students’ academic performance. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. All teachers at State Junior High School 9 Kupang City were involved as respondents using a census technique. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The analysis included descriptive statistics as well as testing of direct and indirect effects among variables. Descriptively, all research variables were categorized as good. Inferential findings indicate that principal leadership does not have a direct effect on student learning achievement; however, it exerts a significant indirect effect through teacher work motivation as a mediating variable. The implementation of digital platforms also does not have a significant effect on student learning achievement, either directly or indirectly through teacher work motivation. In contrast, teacher creativity and teacher work motivation have a positive and significant effect on student learning achievement, with teacher creativity influencing achievement directly without mediation. These findings suggest that student academic success is more strongly influenced by teachers’ pedagogical and psychological factors than by structural leadership factors or the mere adoption of technology. Teacher work motivation functions as a key mechanism that transmits the influence of principal leadership on the improvement of student learning achievement.
