Abstract

This study examines the traditional Ndala Ta song performed on the sixth day of the Yenda and Nde traditional house construction ceremony in Sawu Village, Mauponggo District, Nagekeo Regency. This song is an important part of the traditional ritual and holds high cultural and spiritual value. The main problem of this research is the lack of knowledge among the younger generation regarding the presentation form and symbolic meaning of the Ndala Ta song, which can lead to the potential for forgetting ancestral heritage. The research problem formulation includes (1) how the Ndala Ta song is presented in the Yenda and Nde traditional house construction ceremony, and (2) what symbolic meaning it contains. The research objectives are to understand the presentation process and to identify and analyze the symbolic meaning of the song. This research employed a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods, using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods. The results indicate that the Ndala Ta singing performance consists of several stages: preparation, slaughtering animals as offerings to ancestors, and forming formations before reciting the lyrics. The symbolic meaning of the Ndala Ta singing reflects respect for ancestors, the relationship between humans and the universe, and the community's belief that ancestors are constantly involved in their lives. This singing also serves as a means of asking God Almighty and ancestral spirits to protect and preserve the community. In conclusion, the Ndala Ta singing symbolizes hopes for the smooth construction of traditional houses, the safety of all participants in the ceremony, and the creation of harmony between humans, nature, and spiritual powers.
