Abstract

This study is entitled “The Strategy of the Regional Library and Archives Office in Improving Community Information Literacy in East Flores Regency.” The development of the digital era has facilitated easier access to information; however, the ability of the community to manage and critically utilize information remains a challenge, particularly in East Flores Regency. Archipelagic geographical conditions, limited infrastructure, economic constraints, and a strong oral culture contribute to the low level of community information literacy. Regional libraries play a strategic role as centers of learning and information providers for the public. This study aims to analyze the strategies implemented by the Regional Library and Archives Office of East Flores Regency in improving community information literacy and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting their implementation. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, using interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that information literacy improvement strategies are carried out through collection development, user services, utilization of information technology, human resource development, promotion, and collaboration and networking. Although these strategies are relevant to local community needs, their implementation still faces constraints related to facilities and infrastructure, internet access, and community participation.
