Abstract
Poverty is a condition in which individuals or groups lack sufficient resources to meet basic life needs, such as food, clothing, housing, education, and health. One of the causes of high poverty levels is the high unemployment rate. Unemployment is a state where an individual in the labor force wants to obtain a job but has not yet secured one. An individual who is not working but is not actively seeking employment is not classified as unemployed. The main factor causing unemployment is insufficient aggregate demand. This study aims to determine the effect of the Open Unemployment Rate on the Poverty Rate in Ngada Regency. The sample size for this study is 30 individuals. The research method used in this study is quantitative, with data collection conducted through questionnaires. The analysis technique used in this study employs Pearson product-moment correlation using SPSS software. From the validity test results, it can be confirmed that the data obtained from the instruments are accurate and reliable, supported by the validity test results where the calculated r-value is greater than the table r-value. In this study, the author also found stability and consistency among respondents in answering questions, which is further evidenced by the reliability test results indicating that it is considered reliable if it has a reliability coefficient or Alpha greater than 0.6. The variable X yielded a calculated value of 0.762, which is greater than 0.60, indicating reliability, while variable Y produced a calculated value of 0.769, also greater than 0.60, indicating reliability. The results of the simple linear regression test showed that variable X (Open Unemployment) has a positive and significant effect on variable Y (Poverty Rate), concluding that the higher the unemployment rate, the higher the poverty rate in Ngada Regency. From the t-test results, the author found that the calculated t-value is greater than the table t-value (3.880 > 2.048); therefore, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that there is an influence of variable X (Open Unemployment) on variable Y (Poverty Rate) in Ngada Regency.
