Abstract

Stevan Arlan Boki, Student ID: 31121045, with the thesis entitled Analysis of Factors Affecting Rice Production in Maukabatan Village, Biboki Anleu District, North Central Timor Regency, under the supervision of Mrs. Enike Tje Yustin Dima, S.E., M.E. as the first supervisor and Mrs. Agnes Susanti Indrawati, S.E., M.E. as the second supervisor. The research problems of this study are: (1) How are the developments of land area, business capital, labor, fertilizer use, superior seed use, and government policy related to rice production in Maukabatan Village, Biboki Anleu District, North Central Timor Regency? and (2) How do land area, business capital, labor, fertilizer use, superior seed use, and government policy affect rice production in Maukabatan Village, Biboki Anleu District, North Central Timor Regency? The objectives of this study are: (1) to analyze the development of land area, business capital, labor, fertilizer use, superior seed use, and rice production in Maukabatan Village, Biboki Anleu District, North Central Timor Regency; and (2) to examine the effects of land area, business capital, labor, fertilizer use, superior seed use, and government policy on rice production in Maukabatan Village, Biboki Anleu District, North Central Timor Regency. This study employs a quantitative approach using a descriptive quantitative method. The research sample consists of 70 rice farmers in Maukabatan Village, North Central Timor Regency, selected using a random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results of the analysis indicate that all production factors have a positive and significant effect on rice production, both partially and simultaneously. The results of Model I testing show that land area, business capital, labor, fertilizer use, and seed use significantly affect rice production, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.890, meaning that 89.0% of the variation in rice production can be explained by these variables. Furthermore, the results of Model II testing indicate that government policy has a positive and significant effect on rice production, with a coefficient value of 0.376 and a significance level below 0.05. In addition, production factors also significantly influence government policy, with an R² value of 0.573. Path analysis results prove that government policy acts as an intervening variable that strengthens the effect of production factors on rice production. For several variables, such as land area, business capital, and seed use, the indirect effects through government policy are greater than the direct effects. These findings indicate that improvements in rice production in Maukabatan Village are not only determined by production factors but are also strongly influenced by effective and sustainable government policies.
