Abstract

The Woko Ulu Hu'i song is one of the traditional songs sung during the No'e Lako ceremony in Olabolo village. This song is performed by a group of men participating in the No'e Lako ceremony, using locally-language lyrics that are now rarely used, and its rhythmic accompaniment is foot-stamping. The problems raised in this study are 1.) What is the form of presentation of the Woko Ulu Hu'i song in the No'e Lako ceremony in the Olabolo Village community, Sangadeto Village, Ngada Regency 2.) What is the meaning contained in the Woko Ulu Hui song in the No'e Lako traditional ceremony for the Olabolo Village community, Sangadeto Village, Ngada Regency This study aims to 1.) Know the form of presentation of the Woko Ulu Hu'i song in the No'e Lako ceremony in the Olabolo Village community, Sangadeto Village, Ngada Regency, 2. Describe the meaning contained in the Woko Ulu Hui song in the No'e Lako traditional ceremony for the Olabolo Village community, Sangadeto Village, Ngada Regency? This study uses a qualitative approach and ethnographic methods. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the form of presentation of the Woko Ulu Hu'i song is in response to each other between traditional elders (mosalaki), guides (soka), and answering groups (men). The singing formation is three rows extending backward, facing the traditional house. The performers and roles involved in the Woko Ulu Hu'i singing represent the entire Olabolo community participating in the No'e Lako ceremony. The Woko Ulu Hu'i singing has contextual meaning closely related to the traditional ceremonial situation, the social environment, and the values of the Olabolo community, particularly gratitude, harmony, and contentment. The pragmatic meaning of the Woko Ulu Hu'i singing serves as a means of communication, reminding, inviting, and advising the community to remain vigilant, careful, and obedient to customary rules. Meanwhile, the symbolic meaning is reflected through the use of symbols such as spears, dogs, and horses, representing the values of fighting spirit, courage, individual responsibility, and spiritual values related to God and ancestors. Thus, the Woko Ulu Hu'i singing serves not only as a traditional artistic expression but also as a medium for transmitting cultural values, moral education, and strengthening the social identity of the Olabolo community.
