Abstract

Efficient irrigation water management is a primary challenge in the Wae Ncuang Irrigation Area, Rai Village, Manggarai Regency, due to uneven water distribution and unpredictable rainfall patterns. This study aims to analyze water availability and optimize irrigation water requirements to enhance agricultural productivity. The research methodology involves analyzing water availability using the F.J. Mock method and calculating crop water requirements through the CROPWAT 8.0 software. The results indicate that the average water availability for Planting Season (MT) 1 is 0.4824 m³/s, MT 2 is 0.4525 m³/s, and MT 3 is 0.2136 m³/s. Meanwhile, the highest total crop water requirement occurs in MT 1 Period 1 (0.0431 m³/s/ha) and MT 2 Period 2 (0.0431 m³/s/ha). For MT 3, the water requirement for corn ranges from 0.0198 to 0.0200 m³/s/ha, while peanuts require 0.0190 to 0.0192 m³/s/ha. Based on the analysis, the application of CROPWAT successfully optimized irrigation scheduling and reduced water waste, particularly during MT 3, by adjusting water delivery according to plant growth stages and actual rainfall data. The use of this technology is recommended to ensure sustainable water management and support local food security.
