Abstract

Clean water is a vital basic necessity for sustainable human life. Manulea Village, the capital of Sasitamean District, frequently faces clean water shortages during the dry season, a situation exacerbated by population growth and deteriorating piping infrastructure. This study aims to analyze the existing water discharge availability and project the clean water requirements in Manulea Village for the next 10 years (2023– 2033). The methods used to project the population include Arithmetic, Geometric, and Exponential methods, with the Arithmetic method being selected based on the lowest standard deviation value. The water demand analysis encompasses domestic and non-domestic needs according to the standards of the Directorate General of Cipta Karya, Ministry of Public Works. Meanwhile, water availability (dependable flow) was analyzed using the F.J. Mock method, considering precipitation data, evapotranspiration calculated via the Modified Penman method, and watershed characteristics. The results indicate that the Arithmetic method serves as the basis for population projection due to its superior accuracy compared to other methods. Based on the data recapitulation, the total domestic and non-domestic water demand in Manulea Village reaches 777.78 L/day, assuming water losses of 0.0018 L/sec. Peak hour usage was analyzed at 0.0135 L/sec, with a maximum daily requirement of 0.0099 L/sec. The dependable flow calculation shows a water availability of 114,886 m3/s annually. Consequently, the current water sources are projected to sufficiently meet the clean water needs of the Manulea Village community for the next 10 years.
